In Aberdare National Park in Kenya near the township of Nyeri, Treetops Hotel is a hotel 1966 m above the sea level on the Aberdare Range and in sight of Mount Kenya. Treetops Hotel was opened in 1932 into the tops of the trees of the Aberdare National Park as a treehouse. One of the major aims of building such treehouse was to offer the guest a close view of the local wildlife in complete safety.
Originally the hotel was a modest two room tree house. Now it has grown into 50 rooms. The original structure was burned down by African guerrillas during 194. The new hotel was rebuilt near the same waterhole but was built more fashionably and added new exotic features which made the hotel more rich and famous. The hotel is facilitated with observation lounges and ground level photographic hides. The guests can observe the local wildlife which comes to nearby waterholes. |
